How much garbage did we throw away every year?

Last night I was asked an interesting question that how much garbage that American threw away every year and I found something information on the website The average American produces about 4.6 pounds of solid trash a day that means each average American produces 1,460 pounds of trash per year. Americans represent roughly 5% of the world’s population therefore we will produce about 210 million tons of garbage every years and less than one-quarter of it is recycled. There numbers will keep growing if we don’t find any solution to reduce it. So let’s help our environment with out 3 R’s: reduce, reuse & recycle.
